The Lash Studio Starter Supply Checklist (EverythingYou Actually Need)
Stocking your first lash studio is exciting - and a little overwhelming. Walk into any supplier’s site and you’re hit with hundreds of products, dozens of curls, and more adhesive options than you knew existed. So what do you actually need to open your doors and start lashing?
This checklist breaks it down into the essentials, the nice-to-haves, and the small details new artists tend to forget. Whether you’re setting up a chair at home or a full studio, use this as your shopping list - and skip the costly guesswork.
Start with your service menu
Before you buy a single tray, look at the services you plan to offer. Your menu decides your stock. A studio doing classic sets needs a different lineup than one offering volume, colored lashes, or premade fans. Narrowing your services first keeps you from overbuying product you won’t touch for months.
Once your menu is set, build out the categories below.
Lash extensions
This is the heart of your inventory. You’ll want a range so you can tailor every set to theclient in your chair:
Curls - common options include J, B, C, CC, D, and L. Start with the two or three curls
your services call for most.
Lengths - a spread of short to long so you can map natural lash lines.
Thicknesses - finer diameters for volume fans, thicker ones for classic sets.
Types - single (classic) lashes, premade fans for speed, and colored lashes if your
menu includes them.
You don’t need every variation on day one. Stock the core of your menu, then expand as you learn what you reach for.
Adhesives
Glue is the one product where having options genuinely matters. Different adhesives suit different sensitivities, humidity levels, and seasons - and no single glue performs perfectly in every situation. A smart move is to keep two or more high-performing glues on hand so you can switch when a client’s set or the weather calls for it.
A note to plan around: adhesive doesn’t last forever. Unopened glue typically expires within about six months, and once opened it’s best used within a month. Buy what you’ll realistically use in that window rather than stockpiling.
Tweezers and application tools
Your tweezers are an extension of your hands, so this is not the place to cut corners. Build a small set you trust:
Straight tweezers for isolation
Curved or volume tweezers for picking and fanning
Lash brushes and spoolies for grooming
Lash tape, pads, and under-eye gel patches
Primer and a lash cleanser for prepping the natural lash
As you build out this list, it helps to track what you have versus what you still need to buy. Our app lets you keep a running shopping list right alongside your stock counts - so as you check off your starter supplies, anything you’re missing is already queued up for your next order.
Hygiene and safety supplies
Clean, safe practice protects your clients, your license, and your reputation. Make sure you stock:
Disinfectant and surface cleaner for tools and stations
Disposable items — micro brushes, mascara wands, lip wands
Hand sanitizer and gloves
A sealed container for tool sterilization
An air purifier to clear dust and adhesive fumes from your spaceComfort, lighting, and your workspace
Your tools matter, but so does the environment you and your client spend hours in:
An adjustable lash bed and a gas-lift stool to protect your back
Bright, adjustable lighting — a magnifying lamp or ring light for precise work
Pillows or a bolster for client comfort
Soft décor and a calm atmosphere that makes clients want to come back
The little extras new artists forget
These rarely make the “starter” lists, but you’ll be glad you have them:
Aftercare products to send home (and to retail)
Printed aftercare cards with care instructions
Restock of consumables before you run out
A simple way to track what you have and what’s running low
